Hearts on Fire: The Story of Vlad the Impaler
and the Women He Loved
I've experienced several emotions as I read through Hearts on Fire, so please bear with me as I share my review with you….
In the beginning, I felt that it was rushed and too straightforward. It didn't capture me the way I was expecting it to as a historical romance. Within the first forty pages, it seemed as though I was told the entire story before it even had a chance to develop. In fact, it had left me wondering how on earth Kingston and Lancaster managed to write a novel of nearly 300 pages.
However, I am regretting that I ever doubted their talent and vision for Vlad, Erdenia and Erzsébet. As I kept reading, I was able to see the characters develop and experience the plot shift to something I wasn't expecting. I was captivated and enthralled with the drama that ensued and the love and passion that continued to ignite between the characters.
Having finished the entire book, I can say I wouldn’t change the progression Kingston and Lancaster laid out because it allowed me to have an experience I wasn't expecting. It gave me the chance to get to know the characters, and see them grow and transform right before my eyes and imagination.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the Passion of the Dragon Saga to get to know Vlad and the women he loved even better. You will be too after reading Hearts on Fire.
