The Passion of the Dragon Saga: Volume One
Writen by Rayna Kingston & Helena Lancaster
A warrior, a prince, a legend…
An unknown story of two sisters and how fate entwined them both to love the same man.
His name has been whispered into legend as Impaler. Before he was the legend, he was Vlad conquering more than Turks but hearts. He unexpectedly met and fell in love with two sisters. What he didn’t realize was that he would not be able to live without either of them.
A story of love, passion, war, betrayal, and murder.
In December of 2014 I was approached by Rayna Kingston and Helena Lancaster to create the artwork for a book series they were beginning to write. I remember spending New Years Eve discussing the look for each character, dutifully taking notes so I wouldn’t forget by morning. There were many exchanges where I would change certain details at the authors’ requests and finally we had a cover. When the book came out it was surreal to see characters I had helped bring to life on the first cover for a novel I had ever done. This series will always hold a special place in my heart and as I sat down with my own copy I began to panic, thinking to myself, “What if I don’t like the book? What if I can’t get into it?” As an adult, even working in a library, I barely had time to read anything that wasn’t work related or non fiction. I would tend to lose interest in novels pretty quickly, resulting in either not finishing the book or forcing myself to finish it. With Hearts on Fire, I had to force myself to stop reading. I would set timers on my phone to stop myself because I could not put it down.
The story begins in 1449 with twin sisters, Erdenia and Erzsébet, preparing to go to a dance where they will each meet Vlad Drakul, who is searching for a bride. Both sisters fall quickly for the dark, mysterious stranger and Vlad himself is drawn to both women. Before long, he has fallen in love with both Erdenia and Erzsébet. He can only choose one to be his bride and sit along side him at the throne. How will he decide? How will his decision affect the once inseparable twin sisters? Will he regret his decision? You’ll have to read to find out.
It took me a few pages to really get into it and get the hang of the brilliant way that Kingston & Lancaster have written this story. You are getting the story from two sides and getting to know both of the women Vlad loves. Their approach to this story was so incredibly well executed and once you get a couple of pages in, you are HOOKED. Normally in a love triangle I would dislike one or more characters, but experiencing it from both perspectives makes it hard to not celebrate each character's happiness and join them in their sorrows. Hearts on Fire is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time and had me feeling every range of emotions. It's romantic, tragic, sexy, funny, scary, and intense. One minute I am laughing, the next I'm crying, then I am furious. The way that Kingston and Lancaster can build tension and passion is truly amazing and don’t be surprised if you find yourself needing to take a break from the intensity to catch your breath.
Immediately after finishing this book, I began to work on the second cover. I felt that I knew the characters inside and out and, while I am currently working on the fourth cover, I feel that same excitement still. Don’t just take my word for it, though. Check out the reviews posted to Goodreads and Amazon.
“It is both elegantly seductive and tragically romantic and it will leave you breathlessly awaiting the next edition.”

“Love story for the ages. This is a great read for anyone who likes romance with a dark side. So far, this has been a pleasure and thrill to read. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this and move on to read another book and follow this story in the future. I would encourage anyone who is looking for an adventurous, dark love story to read this.”
“The twins’ near psychic connection to one another as well as their conflicting perceptions of Vlad makes for intense reading. I’m keen to get onto the next book and would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys romance, historical fiction or just plain good steamy erotica!”
