Her poem, “Outer Space” is an educational piece that explains each planet in the solar system in a way that stirs the imagination. Not only does she explain vital facts about each planet, including distance from Earth and other distinguishing characteristics, she relates each planet with a solid visual component, such as ice for Saturn and heat for Venus. Illustrations of stars and a rocket ship complete the orbital theme and are sure to ignite the creative spark of young minds.
Perhaps the most interesting poems in “Bees in My Sleeves” are those that explain specific elements of poetry in a way that is accessible for young children.
